Just the kind of multigenerational family story with a strong sense of place that I love. It features three generations of strong women navigating life and relationships together and highlights the complicated bonds of family. This is the kind of book that will keep people up late reading to find out what happens. It is just the right amount of bonkers, and I enjoyed the "who's playing whom" mind games of the novel.

If you like historical fiction that weaves together disparate stories around a particular event, in this case the construction of the Panama Canal, you might like this. It doesn't feature inspiring characters like some historical fiction does, just characters that feel like real people trying to go about their lives during a period of upheaval. If you like historical fiction that weaves together disparate stories around a particular event, in this case the construction of the Panama Canal, you might like this. I found this book entertaining and compulsively readable. Annie was a well-drawn character. She was just mechanical enough that you never entirely forgot what she was. I think one could easily read this just for fun, but it also has some substance to it. It would make a good book group choice as long as the members are not squeamish about depictions of sex. The depictions aren't particularly tittillating.I found this book entertaining and compulsively readable. Annie was a well-drawn character. This book digs a little deeper into Andy's backstory when an old friend drops in and asks for a favor. I enjoyed it, but I missed some of the characters from the first book. I can see how the author is building his cast of supporting characters moving forward. This book digs a little deeper into Andy's backstory when an old friend drops in and asks for a favor. The writing is beautiful. It took me a while to get through it because it is strange and confusing, and I felt like the strangeness made it harder for me to connect with the characters. As the relationship between the characters develops through the storytelling, it becomes very moving. The writing is beautiful. In case you were wondering if Ali Hazelwood would stay true to her character types, the heroine is a tiny little vampire (with a big brain), and the hero is a big, strapping werewolf with black hair. I find myself wondering what Mr. Hazelwood looks like and if he has an Adam Driver complex. In case you were wondering if Ali Hazelwood would stay true to her character types, the heroine is a tiny little vampire (with a big brain), and the hero is a big, strapping werewolf with black hair. Dederer's book is about whether we can justify loving the art of people who are monstrous. For example, what do we do with the films of Roman Polanski and Woody Allen?
This book felt like it was written for me. This is something that I think about it often. I thought Dederer's discussion was good. She integrates her own experiences and reflections well.
Her discussion of terrible women was interesting. The female artists who are called monstrous are often mothers who abandoned their children. In public discussions and outcry over male artists, their parenting skills rarely come up.

I took a 6-month break in the middle of reading this book. I liked it initially but got a little tired of it somewhere in the middle. It felt a little repetitive. It finished strong though, and that cover is incredible.

In Florida recently, a couple people called the police to report a high school librarian for "distributing child pornography" because she let a 17-year-old student borrow this book. So I read it. It was not really my cup of tea, but it definitely picked up as it went along and I found myself sucked in.
As far as the allegations go, the characters are 18 and 22, and they are both virgins. There is some kissing, and there is one scene that goes beyond kissing where sexual acts are described somewhat titillatingly, but there is no penetration or oral sex. Anyway, that's my book report. In Florida recently, a couple people called the police to report a high school librarian for "distributing child pornography" because she let a 17-year-old student borrow this book. This was fine, I guess. I think that it has not been developed enough away from its Reylo fanfiction roots. The characterizations in particular seemed thin.

I thought I would hate this book. Werewolves? No thank you! Plus there's the whole fated mates thing that I feel like I should have hated more. I hate books where characters are destined for each other or whatever. Gross! And the kid just knows when he is 10? Why not age up the characters a bit? Would that be so hard?
I really liked watching the friendship develop between the characters. I lost interest once there was fighting and lots of testosterone. Boring! Their relationship became significantly less interesting after that too. The plot was super propulsive by then though, so I kind of forgot to care about the rest in the rush to find out what happened.I thought I would hate this book. Werewolves? No thank you! Wow, I just reread the description of this book, and I feel like it basically tells you the entire plot? I guess it is a character focused novel, so the plot isn't the point.
The characters are achingly vulnerable in a way that reminded me of Normal People by Sally Rooney. The book feels almost hyper-realistic, and we spend a lot of time in the characters' heads. Anyway, I loved it. I just want these two beautiful souls to be okay. Is that so much to ask?Wow, I just reread the description of this book, and I feel like it basically tells you the entire plot? I would not have finished this, but I was curious how they would resolve the whole vampire-mortal thing. It wasn't worth it. And actually now that I think about it, I am not sure that they did resolve it?

I read about 100 pages of this--a little more actually--and I found that I just didn't care about the characters or their problems, and I was a little confused about how to feel about Anna because she's with someone initially even if he is awful.

Just no. I appreciate the KC references. I think Sierra and Julie are great. But no.
