I'm a little late to this series but I'm glad I picked it up! Grabbed the audiobook narrated by Will Patton and LOVED it! So happy too that I could grab book two - Finders Keepers - and book three - End of Watch - all at the same time! If…

I read this after watching two seasons of the excellent series with Brendan Gleason. The book is fast-paced and the story is engaging but the writing is full of racial slurs and ableism.

Enjoyed it and liked the different writing style Mr. King provides his fans in this trilogy. Definite page turner. Couldn't stop and moved right into the second book and am excited to read the 3rd of this very interesting and twisted…

I really enjoyed this. It felt more like your standard thriller than a Stephen King, but that didn't make it bad by any means. I think my favorite King "quirk" is when he references his own works in his writing and is super judgmental…

I haven't read a Stephen King book in several years. I think the last one that I started and finished was 11/22/63. I really liked it, but others that I tried after that I just couldn't get into. I only read Mr. Mercedes because it won…

Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King is a work of fiction that’s about Bill Hodges, a retired police officer. He receives taunts from an unknown man on an anonymous messaging site, who he believes is the culprit of a deadly attack on civilians…

A solid and entertaining crime thriller; with great lead characters. When the story dragged, the characters carried me.

I so agree with another reviewer's statement that the first parts of King's books are always the best, and that's very true for this book. For me this is a readable King novel, but not one of his best. What it has going for it is an…

Not a bad effort by Stephen King. As in almost all of his books, I prefer the 1st half better than the 2nd half and this one is no different. Some of the dialogue with Jerome is very familiar to Susannah in "The Dark Tower" series. Did…

I've only read the last book of the trilogy. Slow? Yes. That said, compared to what i call his "Airplane Books" ie. 350 pages of print that's so cookie cutter its not worth a second glance, this book IS worth reading. I agree it's not…

so lame and not in the Stephen King Style at ALL....the trilogy was bogus, I don't think he even wrote it ....so like everything else out on the market today and doesnt have secret cool monsters or good message or anything... S. K. at his…

Not my favourite Stephen King but still a well told story. They can't all be Gunslinger!

Disappointingly weak ending. Started out like the book would be a good read. Interesting storyline and characters. But when the much decorated and successful detective (recently retired) began displaying mannerisms that contradicted…

I guess this book was just not what I expected it to be. I loved the beginning, but the rush of anxiety, anticipation and excitement really didn't hit me again until the ending, and without the original intensity. The writing style bugged…

A very good read from the best of the best. The characters are well developed, plot thrilling.

A thrilling book about a suicidal detective pursuing a psychopathic mass murder, Stephen King tries to make his first realistic suspense crime drama story. A retired cop, Bill Hodges, has nothing to live for but finally, finds a purpose…

King's thriller/police procedural, while outside his usual horror/fantasy niche, doesn't feel forced or awkward. That's because, above all, he's a master plotter and a magician with the machineries of suspense writing. Fans will find his…

While the plot is, in fact, quite predictable, I (as a part of today's youth) believe King did a great job at portraying Jerome. Actually, about half of the kids I know act just like Jerome. And while the way Hodges is like is cliche,…

I think King is showing his age with this book. His characterization of Jerome (a 17 year old boy) is especially off the mark - nowhere near any semblance of today's youth, no matter how tech-savvy or intelligent they are. This character…

Not King's usual horror book. I thought it was a great change of pace.

Enjoyable read, perfect for a day at the beach or for a long plane ride. The characters were likable (at least the good guys were) and had me cheering for them. The detective though was pretty cliché: older, overweight, divorced,…

I still haven't managed to finish this book... it's so boring and dry through the middle bits. It just keeps going over the same stuff. I'm officially giving up trying to read it all.

Stephen King might be better known as a horror writer, but he's no slouch when it comes to crime fiction, either. In this trilogy opener (followed by Finders Keepers and the recently published End of Watch), an unhappy retired detective is…
