I enjoyed this book immensely. Celia strikes bravery and strength in every young girl's heart. Jessica did an amazing job depicting a picture of adventures and imaginary tales dreamt to come true. I highly recommend this incredible book.
I really enjoyed this fun children's fantasy book. It was exciting, funny, and fast-paced. I loved the strong central heroine and I really liked how she worked together with her siblings to challenge the forces of evil trying to take over their castle and kingdom. The magical castle setting is fantastic and really makes the story enjoyable. I would definitely like to read more books by this author.
Where can I find my very own magic castle? The Glower family castle is the secret ingredient that makes this book amazing. Have an unwelcome guest come to visit? The castle will make their room as uncomfortable and unappealing as it can. Need a shortcut? If the castle likes you then your route from here to there will involve fewer steps. Our heroine (Celie) clearly understands the benefits of their unpredictable castle and throughout the book we see her grow in her abilities to channel the castle to fit her needs. Celie, brother Rolph and Sister Lilah will find they need to work together to outsmart the men who are trying to take over their kingdom. Filled with unexpected twists and turns as well as a sense of humor, this would make a delightful classroom read-aloud for third grade and up.
This book has been on my to-be-read list for awhile and I finally found time to read it! I think it is an enjoyable middle grade fantasy that involves a quirky castle with a mind of its own and lots of fun adventure.
Enjoyed this as a read aloud book, next two are good. The last book (Saturdays) is her weakest. Lots of time spent on describing the characters' clothes...
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE BOOK IN THE WORLD. YOU MUST READ IT AT LEAST ONCE. SO GOOD
Castle Glower isn't just an ordinary castle. To the King, Queen, and royal children, the Castle is also a member of the family. That's because it's alive and has a mind of its own. Every Tuesday, or whenever it feels like stretching out a bit, the Castle grows a new room, tower, or even a brand new wing! Princess Celie enjoys exploring these new additions and has been working on an atlas of the entire Castle.
The Castle is always looking out for the royal family, and seems to be able to sense when something is wrong or about to go wrong. And it does: the King, Queen, and oldest brother, Bran, mysteriously disappear while traveling without a trace! To make matters worse, ambassadors from nearby kingdoms invite themselves to the Castle in order to “advise” the royal children during the King and Queen’s absence. Soon, Celie, her brother, Rolf, and sister, Lilah, begin to fear that not all of the visitors have noble intentions.
Will the King, Queen, and Bran ever return? And why is the prince of a warlike nation suddenly attending the meetings of King Glower’s Royal Council? The Glower children soon find themselves on an adventure to find their family and to save their kingdom. With the help of the Castle and their own resourcefulness, these brave siblings concoct some downright sneaky shenanigans in order to do just that!
Tuesdays at the Castle is full of adventure and intrigue and you'll find yourself turning page after page in order to find out what happens!
princess Cecelia live in an self- building castle, but when her parents disappear, the castle health is in danger, and if is up to the princess to save her beloved home. This tale especially pleases me because it is filled with magic and mystery.
I could read this over and over and I will still love it can't wait to read more of this series!
I thought this book was amazing because the castle is magical and the castle can turn into anything every Tuesday! My favourite character is Princess Celie. One day the castle turned into a new room but no one knew what was happening so everyone was trying to figure out what was going wrong.
I loved this book and look forward to the others in this series. The characters are darling and while I might not want to live in an enchanted castle, I've really enjoyed getting to know this one.
I really enjoyed this book about a magical castle that makes rooms and changes itself all the time. And more importantly it has the capability to love and recognize the goodness or lack thereof of the inhabitants.
Celine is a strong female character who I enjoyed meeting in this tale.
Quick read, enjoyable. Empowerment of the youngest and girl power. The sentient castle is a wonderful twist on an ageless genre.
The personification of Castle Glower is a unique element of this fairy tale fantasy. As the castle gets to know its visitors, it shows its pleasure by awarding guests it likes with creature comforts in those people's rooms; guests who are not favored by the castle, however, find their originally adequate rooms turning into dire accommodations.
Visitors are not the only ones who are subject to the castle's whims. Indeed, the kingdom's rulers are chosen by the castle. Unsuitable heirs are removed from consideration for rule once the palace deems them such. When the royal parents are reported dead, it is Princess Celie whom the castle chooses as the principal champion who will fight the invading emissaries for control of the kingdom.
Castle Glower was a most unusual castle and was, in fact, alive. It had a mind of its own, too. No one ever knew what it would do next.
Every Tuesday brought evidence of this truth. New rooms, closets and turrets would appear in the castle, or old rooms would disappear – or both. Sometimes new passageways, stairways, wings or even towers appeared or disappeared.
It was fortunate that the Castle Glower approved of its inhabitants, the king and his family, because the castle often caused unwelcome occupants or visitors to become helplessly lost by suddenly growing new passageways which could lead them anywhere – or nowhere at all. Such visitors, frustrated beyond endurance by hours or days of wandering, would flee immediately when finally released by the castle.
Eleven-year-old Princess Celie loved living in the huge castle and never tired of exploring and mapping the ever-changing twists and turns of her home.
Celie’s knowledge of the castle and its secret passageways proved to be invaluable when the king and queen, on a two-week visit to another city, were ambushed and were missing for a long time. The castle, Princess Celie, her brother and her sister worked together successfully to defend the realm and its people from the sinister Prince Khelsh, who was plotting to imprison the royal family and add their kingdom to his own.
Readers will have lots of fun with this intriguing, fast-paced fantasy novel by Jessica Day George.
This is the kind of book I'd love to reread for its plain timelessness. A story of sisters, banding together with a goofy prince to save their castle and vanquish an evil encroaching kingdom? Yes please. Celie is an endearing protagonist and her relationships with her assorted family members are highlights in this delightful MG fantasy novel.
If you are a guest at Castle Glower, you might find that your room suddenly looks strangely different. If the Castle likes you a nice room may become way nicer. And what would it say about you if your room suddenly became smaller, sparse and cold? This rather endearing magic castle, home to King and Queen Glover and four close-knit siblings, grows rooms, turrets and corridors at will - especially on Tuesdays. 11-year old Princess Celie spends hours drawing maps of the castle – this comes to good use when she and her two siblings are left to defend the castle when their parents and eldest brother go missing. Who are the real villains among the guests at the castle who are plotting to become the new rulers? This well-crafted mystery is a good read for both girls and boys.

I love this book and I love this author! Characters are great, the surroundings are wonderfully crafted, and the storytelling was perfect for this storyline. Plenty of twists and turns~
Wonderful, funny story. Well written and such lovable characters! Definitely on my favourites shelf!
I love this book, possibly more than I loved Dragon Slippers. I love Celie, I love her sister and brother, and I love that I can give this book to a boy or a girl.
Quick read, and a fun story.
