I loved this book and couldn't put it down.
I wished the protagonist could have been more likable
because then you could connect with the story more.
The ending was riveting and made me want more.
Definitely 8.5/10!

I didn't mind this universe, but I thought the characters could have been better developed, and what's the point of introducing a "made-for-each-other" complicating love interest if they share no...interest? The cliffhanger ending left me pissed off because the author failed to resolve even one of the conflicts. I don't even care what happens in the next books.

This was an interesting book- I loved the writing style and the concept, but I didn't really enjoy the relationship between the main character and the fae- I found it rushed and forced. Other than that, though, a good read.

you need to read the glossary/last pages to understand the book's common words 'of faery species.'
other than that, the book was a cliff hanger ended, and i cant wait to read the next one.
characters seem to remain flat, except Kiaran, but they are likable.

Great blending of regency with steampunk and fantasy. Cassandra Clare readers might enjoy this.

An interesting enough story, set in steampunk / Victorian era Scotland.
Aileana is a Faery killer. Think Buffy mixed with Twilight and you'll get the idea. I appreciated that she was more active than Bella, but she was also incredibly blood-thirsty - to the point that she was hard to identify with.
I did read this in two sittings, so I'd rate that in the book's favor.
Warning though, this is the first in a trilogy and the ending is a total cliff-hanger.

I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. It kind of reminded me of Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey series (one of my favorites)!
