this book needs to be updated for the other incidents: bumbaclot, cancer, etc.

Amazing, interesting and so sad. How can the largest city in Canada entertain this man as mayor? Consistently dishonest, friend of gang members, drug and alcohol abuser, and frequenter of escorts.

The book is a great read, and I found Robyn Doolittle's comment that the only thing that would stop Rob Ford from running again was jail or death....very insightful.

Totally absorbing read. After all the accusations, rumours, videos and denials, this is a meticulously researched account of a story that is far from over. Bottom line, in judging the character of this man, is that he uses his kids as a shield when things get hot. He's a bully of the lowest class. Total scum.

But a great book.

An exceptional book, and a damning indictment of a lousy excuse for a human being and his reprehensible family. Doolittle goes into the history of the Ford family and examines the personalities, giving us details in a clear and concise manner. She also examines the efforts of her colleagues and herself during the investigation by the Toronto Star into the various misdeeds by the mayor. Her writing style is crisp and keeps your interest. If there is a problem, it is simply in that the story is not yet over, and this will no doubt need a follow up. Very worthwhile reading for anyone who has grown tired of the circus this man has inflicted on the entire country. His fans, however, will scream in outrage.

I decided not to read it, after all the stories not over. I suppose she had to capture the moment, after all if she waited too long it may have just become blip,, accepted with a shrug and a sheepish grin. But I'd probably watch it some sleepless night on late night TV.

A very good read, hard to put this book down.

I enjoyed the book, and its promising that public figures like Ford are put under public scrutiny, however difficult that is because of Canadian laws!!

It was a great book! I don't normally read non-fiction, but this book I devoured very quickly!! The story is both tragic and revolting! I had no idea the massive scope of the trouble Ford was involved in from drugs, to hanging out with gang members and arm dealers! Wow!! It was a well written book that was also fair, unbiased, informative and easy to read. I learned a lot about Canadian politics, law, media, etc. It is not a hateful book. A very good read!

I enjoyed the book very much. Since I was in Florida over the winter when most of this was happening, I was taken back at what I read in the book. There is very, very little Canadian news shown on US TV, but Ford did make it on CNN so we did know about the smoking of the pipe. It was to say the least, very embarrassing for us Canadians to hear about on CNN. I do hope that the people of Toronto will vote smarter this time around. As a person who was born in Toronto and lived there for 20 years I think the City deserves better. Doolittle did a great job on the book revealing the history of the Ford family.

This is a book that is longer than it has to be, because Doolittle puts in all the stuff that we already know--stuff that has been exhaustively gone through on TV and in print--so the deja-vu feeling is ever-present. She is good on the background analysis though.
