I love books like this!!!!

This book was better than previous books in the series in some ways. The return of a couple characters we thought lost, plus the introduction of some new (to us) characters, and the fleshing-out of some characters we already knew, giving us some more insight into what makes them tick. We get a more in-depth look at Gregor's Overland life - school friends, Mrs. Cormaci, and his parents - and more history of the Underland, especially the animosity between the humans and the rats. I especially liked the author's descriptions of the plants in the jungle, and Boots' interactions with other creatures like the tree frogs.

There were a few areas, though, that could have used some more detail. I felt that things ended in the jungle pretty abruptly, and the situation with Neveene happened all too fast, with Gregor (and the reader) not even witnessing most of it. Overall, I was not pleased with the way this book ended at all.

Other than that, though, this was a pretty good continuation of the series. And... I've already started the next book.

I love the series. I think Suzanne Collins wrote The Hunger Games

Why should you read this book? Because Gregor goes on a very exciting adventure. He has to find cure to a very bad sickness. The only cure that they think their is a field of star shaped leaves. If you eat some of the leaves it can cure you of the sickness. This book is just as good as the other two Gregor the Overlander books.

@somethinghere123 But a Nerissa put it is if Neeve just admitted she did it then the gnawers (or rats) would have never got the cure. So then there would have been war.

Very good stuff. Loved the story. I would say these are way better than Hunger Games (same author). These deserve the popularity. Not HG!

this book made me think about how humans make some random thing that goes bad and tells everyone that an animal or something started it and make people go on a goose case

After being forced to go back to the Underland, Gregor, Boots, and their mom discover that the reason for the Underlanders' desperation was because of a dangerous plague called the Curse of the Warmbloods that has struck the warmbloods of the Underland. Gregor, Boots, and some other bunch of people has to travel through the jungle and into the Vineyard of Eyes to harvest the starshade (the cure for the Curse of the Warmbloods). Of course, there's the ever-present prophecy to think about. And the one particular reoccuring stanza of the prophecy is the most important of all.
