I really liked this book. It answers even more questions and raises ones you would never think to ask in the other books, like these ones: Is count Olaf really evil? Is Lemony Snicket in the story? And who is Kit Snicket to count Olaf? The only thing I didn't really like about this book is how it still leaves so many questions unanswered. The end was surprising, but definitely deserved. Great end to the series!

This was not as good as I thought it would be. I thought the other books wear much much better. This was good but also kind of boring. I would not really recommend it. The other books were really good so I would read those then stop at after the 11 book. (But you might be curious)

(My opinion)

Lemony honestly gave up with this one. I liked the environment and characters and all, but the ending just wasn't solid. I still have so many questions that can never be answered. It was wasn't a blast-off ending. It was barely an ending at all. It was just, the end. That's it. Despite all of this the series was still very amazing! Pure brilliance. I am glad these books have gotten some of the recognize they deserve with the Netflix series. Good luck, Lemony Snicket.

So this was a pretty good series. But this book just disappointed me. It didn't reveal literally any of the secrets and it was soooo frustrating. And the Beatrice letters just confused me even more. A terrible book for the last of a series

Finally at the end!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved all of the secrets that Violet, Klaus, and Sunny discover in this ending chapter to the series. TBH, I actually want to be part of the V.F.D world now. although the ending was sad, and the colony frustrating, i do think that this is a really good book, and i loved every chapter of it, especially the first part of the tongue tying chapter nine. I recommend reading "the unauthorized autobiography" and "all the wrong questions" also by Lemony Snicket.

This books in this series grew in depth and in their sense of humor as we moved from Episode One to Episode Thirteen. There are many real life concepts that are addressed in the books and even more so in the last one. Life is messy and as kids read the Series of Unfortunate Events they watch the Baudelaire orphans bump up against one unhappy ending after another. They do not give up and the ending gives closure without seeming to be unrealistic.

As the series progresses, the books just seem to get worse and worse. It's always the same thing - adults are morons and can't tell Count Olaf is in a poor disguise and the kids have to pull some smarts to escape to be sent to their next relative.... The ending of this series was just awful.. I had seriously hoped for something better for a reader who had stuck with the entire series to the end, but it is just poor. I honestly wouldn't recommend reading past the first couple of books, because the quality decreases and the ending is extremely disappointing for 13 books.

"kill count olaf"

"In any case, this is how all our stories begin, in darkness with our eyes closed, and all our stories end the same way too, with all of us uttering some last words— or perhaps someone else's—before slipping back into darkness as our series of unfortunate events comes to an end."

Captain_America May 21, 2011

"We don't want to be your henchfolk." Klaus said. "We just want to be safe."
"Nowhere in the world is safe." Count Olaf said.
"Not with you around." Violet agreed.

Captain_America May 21, 2011

"This isn't fair." Klaus said finally, but he said it so quietly that the departing islanders probably didn't hear. Only his sisters heard him, and the snake the Baudilaires thought they would never see. again and of course Count Olaf who was huddled in the large, ornate bird cage like an imprisoned beast and who was the only person left to answer him.
"Life isn't fair," he said in his undisguised voce and for one the Baudilaire orphans agreed with every word the man said.
