I really like how she tells the story of several children hidden during the holocaust, and then ties them together and discusses their grown up lives and how the war impacted them in ways one wouldn't think of. For example one girl who was hidden refused to pick fruit at the grocery store - she would take whatever was on top, because she could not face the idea of being part of "selection".

I have been a student of the Holocaust and read about the 'hidden children' but never have heard their stories. The questions they have had their whole lives and wondering what happened and how they ended up with who and where they did. Also, living with survivors who were irreparably damaged would have been difficult under any circumstances. This is a very good read.
