Summary
Add a SummaryA universe where the planets are reflected in Zodiac signs, as well as the people, lies a daring story of adventure, justice, and leadership. Sixteen year old Rhoma Grace was just an normal Cancerian girl trying to pass her exam on reading the stars. She foresaw an omen that predicated the ruin of her planet, and no one else did, Rho became worried about the state of the universe. She eventually discovered the entity behind the various attacks that were happening on the other planets and Cancer was Ochus, Guardian of the 13th house. She sets off on a journey with Hysan, a diplomat for Libra, and Mathias, a Lodestar for Cancer, to warn the other planets about the danger that they are all in. At first, none of the Guardians believe her. In fact, hardly anyone believes in Ochus, who is deemed a children's tale. But when the planets Virgo, Cancer, and Gemini, are attacked, finally the Guardians band together to defeat the enemy. But is who they are attacking the right person? Or is it someone else entirely? Read to find out.
Seriously. Read it.

Add a CommentImagine a time when all the Zodiac signs were like factions. You could only identify by your star sign (that correlates with the horoscope of which family you are born into). All Leo's looked the same, but different from all Libras, etc. Rhoma, a teenage Cancer, gets her life thrown into upheaval when disaster strikes her community/planet. Now, she is suddenly facing a tremendous amount of pressure to follow either her head or her gut to conquer obstacles. Can she lead her people by example, or fail utterly and completely? @Siri of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
I read this novel and instantly fell in love with the characters, story, and author! I'm hooked!!
I was thrilled to get this book as soon as it came out, and couldn't wait to dive into it. I was not disappointed. I can't say that I cared a whole lot about the main character, Rhoma Grace, but the world Romina (interesting how the MC's name is very similar to the author's name) created was beautiful and layered. I love layered stories. And I really enjoyed learning about the culture and clothing and food of each House. Is the main character very deep? No. But the story's pace is quick, the characters engaging, and the plot unique. I suggest giving this book a try.
I liked this series, mad that it's not finished yet
This book was okay, but could have been much better. The extra little details about the way the Zodiac houses worked, and all the crazy words and stuff, wasn't explained as clearly as I would have wanted, and I was confused a lot of the time. This was still an ok read, and I still love experiencing new worlds through reading, which this was, in fact a unique new world.
My friend recommended this book to me. Now I hope nobody hates me for saying this, but this was not a good book.
It may have been the love triangle, it may have been how bizarre it was that Rho was already taught everything she need to know by a mother who never shows up in this book- but mainly, it was Rho.
I have never had such distaste for a character as I have had with Rho. She's hypocritical, annoying, and she does not change. She's also a complete Mary Sue. Nothing bad really happened to her, and *SPOILER* the outcome of her fight with Iceman was extremely unrealistic, also why did /he/ have to die? It did not really add anything ad he was the only character I could stand because he didn't always bow at Rho's feet... *SPOILER OVER*
So I really did not like this book. There was very little character development, the death was predictable, and I despise the main character.
HOWEVER, what did get me to award this book 2 stars instead of 1, is the amount of thought that was put into the setting by the author. Her imagery is amazing and I would love to live in a world like Zodiac's. This book had so much potential, but she didn't quite deliver. She is a very clever author though, and I look forward to reading her future books.
After wandering in the bookstore for about an hour, I spotted this book and snapped it open to the front page. The first two sentences had me hooked, and I instantly knew this would be an excellent book.
It is incredible. The world is exciting and combines sci-fi with astrological signs. The characters are lovely as well. Rho is very inspiring, and isn't a typical lead character. She's better. The plot moves along nicely, and everything is conveyed clearly by the narrator. To make it even better, there were several plot twists that I did NOT foresee at all.
I highly recommended it.
