Unbelievable and as far from skilled writing as I have ever seen in my life. The narration is first person, and the young female character, who is a witch hunter, has been accused of being a witch and sentenced to execution because she is carrying herbs that will prevent her getting pregnant from the king, who has forced her to have repeated sex with her. Yet, when she escapes prison, apparently she never thinks about her repeated rape by the king or how she only went to herbs to protect herself from pregnancy. No mention ever again of her rape or her persecution by the married king, or how this forced her to seek herbs to prevent pregnancy. This inconsistency is so jarring that as much as I tried to read and get into the story, the stark fact that in first person especially an author would ignore this huge aspect of characterization is unbelievable. And the positive reviews from the critics are even more unbelievable. There is something rotten here, and this novel stinks.

I love it so far, it reminds me of a game though.

Elizabeth, a loyal witch hunter standing by Blackwell's side, thanks to Caleb training. Elizabeth thought she knew perfectly well that she was a respecting- and girly- witch hunter until one night Blackwell thought otherwise.
