I loved The Fixer. Tess has been living with her grandfather in Montana, but he has been stricken with Alzheimer's. Tess's sister steps in and takes over moving her to Washington DC and their grandfather to a facility in Boston. It doesn't take long for Tess to get in trouble at her new school. but as it turns out, she gets it naturally. This was a real page turner that was enjoyable from beginning to end - a mystery on a national scale that is wrapped up in the life of a high school student. Highly recommended - Hoping for a sequel.

Tess Kendrick has lived her whole life on her grandfather's ranch. One day, her estranged sister takes her to D.C. There, she attends Hardwicke Academy, the D.C. school for the children of the rich and powerful. She befriends Vivve, and things start to settle down until Vivve discovers that there may have been a murder.

This novel is enthralling and I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for a good murder mystery.

As a general rule, my family does not talk about politics when we get together. So when I read the flap of this book and saw that it was set in an alternate universe Washington, D.C., I thought I would give it a chance. I didn’t expect to like this book very much, but I was pleasantly surprised.

When Tess Kendrick is forced to move from a ranch to the bustling city of Washington, D.C. with a sister who has been absent for years, she is less than thrilled. And when she discovers that Ivy is the resident “Fixer” of the city, she becomes even angrier. The fact that it wasn’t Ivy herself that spills the beans about her job gives Tess just one more reason to hate her.

But things are not always as they seem in the capitol. Webs of lies and secrets connect key political players, and when a classmate comes to Tess with a problem, Tess feels compelled to try and fix it. As she delves into the new world she now inhabits, she begins to discover that things can turn deadly in a heartbeat. And when her own family’s secrets come to light, can Tess come to terms with the truth, or will the lies cause her to implode?

This is an exciting political novel, and the twists and turns will have you guessing and theorizing until the very end. It is so much easier to get into politics if they are not based in the real world. Definitely check this out of you’re politically inclined, and you’ll like it if you love a good mystery. Recommended for teens and up, just because of the complicated issues covered.

The Fixer is a novel packed with suspense, mystery, and unbelievable twists and turns! This book is also quite political, but not in the way you’d think. The plot revolves around the mysterious murder of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and who might have done it may just surprise you! When reading the book, I literally sat at the edge of my seat, waiting for what secrets were about to be uncovered on the next page. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of murder-mystery, immersive details, and unlocking secrets. 5/5 stars

Tess Kendrick has spent most of her life with her grandfather, so when her sister, Ivy Kendrick, suddenly shows up, she’s forced to move to Washington D.C. As she enrolls in Hardwicke Academy, a posh school in D.C, she starts questioning who her sister really is for her to be able to attend this school. When deliveries are made to their house on Sundays, Tess understands how little she knows of her sister’s career. When she learns the infamous Ivy Kendrick is D.C.’s official ‘fixer’, there’s no turning back. What’s even more astonishing is when Tess absent-mindedly follows the steps of her sister and soon enough becomes Hardwicke’s official ‘fixer’. But when the problems start piling up, both sisters’ worlds crash together. The problem Tess is faced with is too hard to fix and even if she is able to, she knows the price she’ll have to pay is too high. It later on occurs to Tess that anything is possible in D.C. 9/10 stars

This book is fantastic. It is the real deal. Little twist and turns. I don't like books of these story lines. But I would read all of her books. I also did not know it was a series but there is a second on. This is a 5 star book. *****

P.S read this in 6th grade.

Very thrilling! Who knew high school could be so intricately tied to the workings of national security...

I love this book. It's a smart, action packed political thriller and I tell people that it's like Scandal set in high school, but without all the romantic drama.

All the complexities of a WW2 in high school.

There wasn't a lot of "thriller" to this book, and quite a bit of it was predictable. That said, I enjoyed it for what it was and will probably continue with the series.
