I watched the first two seasons on Netflix and really liked the series. Netflix does not have Season Three, so I borrowed the DVD from the library. Unfortunately, the DVD does not come with subtitles. It's difficult enough trying to understand the Australian dialect, but it is even more difficult for someone like me who is hard of hearing. If Season Three does appear on Netflix, I hope it will be with subtitles.

Very entertaining. The ensemble cast, headed by the inimitable Richard Roxburgh, is consistently excellent, and the writing remains fresh for this third and final season. The only drawback is the lack of subtitles. There were, however, subtitles whenever characters spoke other languages, all hilarious.

Great series. Well worth watching.

It's not for all tastes, nor sensitivities, but Rake is landmark TV.
I've not seen the US derivation, but doubt it can approach this original.
The entire cast here is just a spot on. The characters come to life and mean something.
It's very funny, and profane but not mean spirited.
Sydney is depicted authentically, and the locations A1. Excellent, most of the exported Aussie serials are.

You have to watch this whole series. Absolutely an all time top ten favourite.

Darkly humourous, highly entertaining. Rake is a lawyer unlike most others you will ever see. You can't help caring, despite him being such an idiot so often.

Season 3 finds a milder, kinder Cleaver Green, perhaps because this time he starts off in jail. After his conviction is "quashed", (not exonerated), he returns to defending the guilty, and sometimes, the not so guilty. He even figures out a way to defend his son, who is caught smuggling blood diamonds. I really liked this Cleaver who still sleeps around and gets drunk (though no more coke), but also shows his softer side in relationships with his friends and family. A new love interest brings challenges and some comic relief when he tries to impress her, but only succeeds in putting her in the hospital. Just the right mix of drama and comedy as previous plotlines are tied up. Aussie slang is still a challenge without subtitles, but overall, very enjoyable. I just hope this isn't the last in the series!
