This is the shocking true story of the Battle of Isandlwana: in January 1879, arrogant officials of the British colony of Natal, Africa issued a list of unauthorized ultimatums to the Zulu Nation. When the Zulu king refused their demands, the empire declared war. And in a series of grave tactical blunders, a garrison of 1,500 British soldiers faced an army of 25,000 enraged Zulu warriors in what would become the most horrifying disaster in British military history.

Great movie, great cast, great performances. "Zulu Dawn" is the prequel to "Zulu" (starring Michael Caine) which depicts the events leading up to the infamous Battle of Isandlwana; which itself leads up to the other movie "Zulu", depicting the Battle of Roarke's Drift.

This newer-released version of the movie is definitely of better digital quality than an older previously released version, as well as the much older VHS tape version. The extra features also make renting this version well-worth it in giving you a lot of behind-the-scenes info about the making of the movie, as well as great historical information about the events leading up to the battle, as well as gruesome details of the victims of the battle, as well as visiting the location itself.
***And just for the heck of it...I couldn't help picturing Obi Wan Kenobi (as played by Ewan McGregor in "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" evertime one of the main character was on screen. Absolutely spitting image!
