In this book, the main character is a girl named Lea Clark. She is ten years old and loves to explore. She has a love for animals and when she was little she wanted a pet alligator but her brother Zac got her a turtle named Ginger.

For summer vacation, Lea went of a family trip to Brazil to see her brother Zac who studies the rainforest there. When Lea gets to the Amazon she doesn't see any animals. She thought the rainforest would be filled with them. When Zac's host family takes Lea on a boat ride, Lea realizes that the animals are all around her.

During a hike in the rainforest, Lea and her brother spotted a badly injured baby sloth. Lea and Zac take the baby sloth to a wildlife sanctuary where they take care of the sloth.

Lea names the sloth Amanda after her grandma. It was hard for Lea to leave Amanda in Brazil, but Lea said goodbye and left Brazil with her Mom and Dad.

I love the book so much that it's my favorite book. My favorite part is when Lea finds the sloth. I recommend this book because it was fun to read about animals and the rainforest.
