Then followed more than a decade of silence and darkness-until rock and roll repaid the debt it owed this pioneer, helped Lita reclaim her soul, and restored the Queen of Metal to her throne. In 1975, Lita Ford left home at age sixteen to join the world's first major all-female rock group, the Runaways-a "pioneering band" (New York Times) that became the subject of a Hollywood movie starring Kristen Stewart ad Dakota Fanning. As being a heavy metal guitar player myself for the last 35 years, Lita's book was a given to read. I like The Runaways but really had no clue about Lita's career.

The book is a quick/short read - for all the circles Lita walked in she really had minimal stories and name dropping moments to speak of. When she does there is little info, or it's regurgitated (Tony Iommi's hand injury).

I think the book is an opportunity squandered. Lita comes across as a polite girl but in reality is a headache to work with. I don't buy the wholesomeness she puts forth in the book. It also seems she may be gagged due to potential lawsuits. Zero info on ex-husband(s), and she clams up about her 2 kids alienating her.

The book is a tribute to Lita's greatness - manufactured or earned. I gagged when I saw the Guitar Player Legend Award - check out Lita's guitar prowess on Youtube....then check out Nita Strauss on Youtube...nuff said.

PS - For a proper story on the Runaways read Cherie Currie's "Neon Angel". Maybe Lita should have read it too.
