The title should be Harriet (Who Never Had A) Chance. Spoiler alert: the story includes a unidimensional nod to virtually all societal issues (i.e., rape, drug addiction, abortion, and alcoholism to name a few) and no characters capable of honest lives or healthy coping. A great book can be dark and the characters nonredeeming, but this was a superficial game show of the main character's life. The author's treatment of Harriet was in itself elder abuse. Leave this one on the shelf.
