Everywhere he goes, crowds gather to meet Buzz Aldrin. He is a world-class hero, a larger-than-life figurehead, best known of a generation of astronauts whose achievements surged in just a few years from first man in space to first men on the Moon. Now he pauses to reflect and share what he has learned, from the vantage point not only of outer space but also of time..."--

This book consists of life lessons from a man who has walked on the moon. It has an overall inspirational message that you can do anything, which is obvious just by reading the title. Buzz Aldrin talks about his greatest accomplishments, shares the best advice he could possibly give, and talks about his journey (being a pilot and his mission to the moon). If you are into space exploration or are looking forward to becoming an astronaut in the future, give this book a read! This autobiography not only will provide you with the missions and challenges that come along with wanting to walk on the moon, but is full of inspiration and motivation. It encourages you to look at all aspects of life. 4/5 stars

Great book by (as Buzz is famously reminded just about every day of his life) "the second man to walk on the moon". And it's not just for space geeks like me. Buzz wrote this intending it to be "life lessons", but it's a lot more. Buzz has also dealt with depression issues and alcoholism post-moon landing--and came out better for it. In the course of 13 main life lessons, Buzz tells a lot of stories about his life and the moon landing that I had not heard or read before! Like trying to grab a quick nap on the floor of the LEM, and while on the floor, noticed the broken plastic cap of the engine circuit-breaker...the engine they needed to escape the moon. Some of the stories are more hilarious. Like his appearance on 30 Rock: "Hey moon, I walked on your face!". He's 80+, but lives like he's still 30 or 40. Great book.

Many years ago it was said, “If you lost an elder, you have lost a library.” Buzz Aldrin’s book reminded me of this saying. Each of us has to learn the lessons stated in Aldrin’s book. The difference is where and how we learn these lessons. It is what defines our lives. Doctor-at-Bass-Fishing! T. A.

Nice easy read, with some good stories, from a guy that has been through a lot (war, fame, alcoholism).

If you are looking for a memoir by an Apollo astronaut, probably the best is Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins (Armstrong and Aldrin's less-famous Apollo 11 crewmate). Unfortunately OPL doesn't have a copy.
