I didn't hear the hype or see the negative reviews posted below about this album before I checked it out. I just checked it out because it was a band that I'd heard before and liked, and because I was familiar with some of Jonny Greenwood's classical work. And I like this album too. It's a little different from some of the others by Radiohead that I've heard. This is Indie-Rock at its most dreamlike. Etherial and hypnotically ambient, with lush orchestrations beneath (it begins with a 'cello solo), this appears to be a meeting between Radiohead and Sigur Rós. It's also a blending of expectations: some of the string arrangements use note-bending and even microtones, the way a guitar solo might. Interesting and mysteriously beautiful stuff!

A disappointing departure from their early classic albums "Kid A", "OK Computer", and "The Bends".
Hailed for its "mature" shift to music that is more dreamlike, symphonic, and melancholic; and based on its positive reviews and awards, I gave it an 'objective' ranking of #22 on a bibliocommons list, "Popular Music 2010 to 2017, about a year ago.
I finally borrowed the CD and found its mood to be more "depressing" than "melancholic", despite the lush orchestration. 7.5/10

This art rock album was released in 2016 and produced by Nigel Godrich, and is the band’s most recent album. My favourite songs off of this album are Burn the Witch, Daydreaming, and Ful Stop. These songs featured a lot of synth and electronic beats which made the album more interesting to listen to, and also featured Thom Yorke’s classic mumbly singing voice. Personally, I prefer their older music compared to their newer music since it seems as though they have transformed from alternative rock into more so EDM music. I would rate this album 3.5/5 stars and recommend it to those who like electronic music mixed with rock.

I don't get the hype, definitely not as strong as their earlier albums. Couple great tracks but all in all a bit of a snooze fest.

Another stellar performance by the band. While it's not as aggressive as their OK Computer/Kid A days, this introspectively creative album is just as rewarding.

Just got the case but it had a duran-duran cd in it. Really? Duran Duran?

Fans will relish "A Moon Shaped Pool," Radiohead’s long-awaited ninth album. Here we find the band as intricate as ever, exploring soundscapes as only Radiohead can do, though this time we’re treated to a gentler, more introspective collection of songs than we’ve ever heard from them before. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood’s orchestral arrangements shine here, and frontman Thom Yorke’s voice has never sounded better. - Anne

A Moon Shaped Pool is a soundtrack for dreams. After all these years, Radiohead still has it in them to create a profound piece of art.
