Pouncing on Murder is the fourth book in Laurie Cass' bestselling cosy mystery series following librarian Minnie Hamilton and her rescue cat Eddie as they spread literacy and solve crimes. Springtime in Chilson, Michigan is librarian Minnie Hamilton's favourite time of year: maple syrup season! But her excitement fades when her favourite syrup provider, Henry Gill, dies in a sugaring accident. It's tough news to swallow...even if the old man wasn't as sweet as his product.

Maybe I'm reading through these too fast?
Or maybe not.
I love Cass' books, and I flew through her fourth book, Pouncing on Murder. In this one, Minnie has to find out who killed her favorite, if a bit churlish, maple syrup provider. Once again, her research talents are put to use. This time, though, she'd better be careful-or else she'll be next.
This entry was a little heavier than Cass' previous books. Maybe it's the trials that Minnie is going through in her own life, maybe it's the fact that the victim isn't that unlikable. But it had a more serious mood. Which didn't bother me one bit. I like that Cass proves herself capable of handling more than one level of emotion. #5, here I come!

This is a fun series and I enjoy the author's writing style. I am looking forward to the next one.
