Shane Dawson is a phenomenal influencer on youtube that has recently been doing very well with posting interesting “docu-series" on youtube that have been receiving millions of views from people all over the world. Not only is he an amazing youtuber though, but he is an author that tells his life story through his books to give his audience a deeper view into how far he has come. This book is inspiring, emotional and hilarious all at the same time. Shane Dawson talks about all his struggles he has had in his life, while adding funny commentary to it, to shed some light on the troubles he has been through. This book is one of my favourite books I have read as there is not one boring part in the book. Even if you do not watch Shane Dawson’s youtube videos, I still think this is still an amazing book to read as it can be inspiring to anybody. I rate this book 5/5 stars. @KyKy18 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

In Shane Dawson’s second best selling novel, he gives you an even more in depth look on his life before and while it was changed by the website known as YouTube. You learn of his hilariously narrated struggles but also how he overcomes them, making this the perfect book for learning life lessons but also to have a laugh. Dawson writes his book in a specific manner that gives you the reason to smile but still see the good and bad. If you are familiar with Shane from his content creating career, I’m sure you will be able to hear him read these stories to you, but if you aren’t, you may to read his first book to get a feel for certain people involved in the second books selection of essays. 5/5 Stars. @sideswipefirefight

It Gets Worse by Shane Dawson is a collection of his story’s and essay’s that outline his life. Many of the stories are funny and even though some have sensitive topics such as eating disorders, he still manages to talk about them in a lighthearted manner. The book is also written so that it feels like the author is speaking directly to you by including little parts where he says something directly to the readers. Throughout the book he talks about his journey and his struggles as well as how he dealt with them through the years. Before every story he really includes his fans and added a piece of art to go along with every story. The final note is from his mom on the night that changed their lives. I would give this book a 5/5 because it is so funny and feels very personal to both the author and the reader.
