Summary
Add a SummaryInspired by Lewis Caroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Marissa Meyer's gives Catherine, a girl who dreams of opening a bakery. Only her parents have other plans- marrying her off to the King of Hearts. Full of romance and mystery, Heartless is the backstory of the Queen of Hearts that you never knew you wanted.
Catherine is a talented baker and all she wants to do is open a bakery with her best friend and be the person who supplies Hearts with the best pastries and confections. Unfortunately, her mother thinks that's unsuitable for a woman who holds the eye of the yet unmarried King of Hearts.
At a ball where she believes she will receive a proposal, Cath meets Jest, the handsome new joker who immediately steals her heart. Unwilling to risk offending the King or her parents, they enter into an intense (& secret) courtship.
Cath only wants to fall in love and run her life on her own terms. But sometimes, fate has other plans

This book was amazing!! However the ending was so sad!! We all knew it was coming but that didn't lessen the blow. Nevertheless I LOVED this book and you should definitely read it if you like fairy tale rewrites or just good books in general. In other words READ IT!!!!
The book heartless is the most heartwrenching, and the saddest book i have ever read. The author went into tremendous detail about the characters. I absolutely love this book and i will reccomend this book to you.
READ THIS BOOK, please its amazing. I love how the ending was different from most YA books as its not the classic "happy ending". READ IT
Heartless by Marissa Meyer is a Queen of Hearts origin story. It tells the story of Caroline, a girl who lives in the world of Alice in Wonderland. There are several references to the original Alice in Wonderland, and heartbreak, loss, and adventure, eventually lead to her becoming the infamous Queen of Hearts. I really liked this book. It was super interesting, although it was also heart wrenching at times. It was a really cool backstory and I like the authorās interpretation of the Queen of Heartsā origin.
Another gem by Marissa Meyer! See the dark decent of the girl who becomes the Wonderland Queen of Hearts. I LOVED the descriptions (many of them baked goods-related) and that the Joker dresses in āblack motleyā ā which means 3 different colors of black!
i love unhappy endings! [no offense] but got a liiitle ''dust'' in my eyes at the end! so awsome!
If you liked this book click on my name FantasyFox and check out some amazing mind blowing books! i promise you, you will be blown away!
I loved this book. Marissa Meyer really branched out from the science-fiction of The Lunar Chronicles. I can tell how she has grown as a writer and how much better she had become. I sincerely enjoyed this fantasy novel about how a sweetheart Catherine grows to become the Queen of Hearts we all know.
The best fantasy novel I've ever read!
This book was amazing. I don't think that she wrote it to be a prequel. She wrote as a beginning of a whole new series. I would love for her to expand on this book as well as her lunar chronicles. But why did jest have to die!
I cried for two days about what happened to Jest. If only Cath wasnāt so stupid. I hate this story and also love it.ā¤ļøšš¼ā¤ļø
