This movie reminds us all about our life and how we live it. Sometimes it comes sudden like a "thud" from a bus popping us out of life into a world of the dead. Who will come to see us off?? Does it in fact really matters? We are already dead? Still an eye opener to see how many people around us could die alone as well, no one at the grave to say goodbye! :((

Good movie. Recommended for the lonely and old age who is about to leave. Let them call their family today before there is no one at the grave! :(( Sad but true about our lives lived.

From the instant of birth we are approaching the time of our death. Perhaps this movie struck a chord because I had my parents and in-laws die a few years ago. At my father's funeral a large church was, surprisingly, filled to capacity while at my mother-in-law's burial only a small group of family were present. So it is easy to imagine, but at the same time troubling, that some people leave this world without anyone present to mark their passing. This poignant, subtle movie raises many questions about our attitude toward death - and often our laziness to let life trickle away. Other social issues are touched on by this clever social commentary and tragic-comedy.

Even though this movie is a few years old. I totally enjoyed it, might be slightly slow for some. Loved the characters and the plot. It was a thoughtful and quirky film, that the British do so well.

I see that several considered this film to be slow and boring. For me, slow and boring was considered, thoughtful and meticulous. It is worth watching the somewhat quirky dedication and compassion of this man who believes that each life is of value and that when we leave here that there be an acknowledgement of that life. By making it to the end of this movie I found it to have wonderful staying power and even the title “Still Life” took on multiple meanings and interpretations from still as in silent to still as in stationary to still as in only to still as enduring to still as in quiet to still life as in art.

A wonderful little movie. Nothing stands out. Not garish. No action. No cgi. Just a nice little movie that fits like a pair of slippers by the fireplace. I'll watch it again, every time I show it to another friend.

Sadly the movie is slow as it can be. I turn it off half way...

A quirky little movie that goes slowly until almost the end (which I won't reveal but it's the reason to watch it to the finish line). Very odd film but it stays with you afterwards.

I wanted this to be a quaint & delightful British drama but it wasn't. It was just dreary. I can't get those 89 minutes back now.

Life for the unassuming John May (played by Eddie Marsan) has always revolved around his work, for the local council in South London, finding the next-of-kin of those who have died alone. Profoundly dedicated to his work, he believes that everyone deserves a dignified funeral, and writes eulogies and organizes burials or cremations for those who wouldn't have them otherwise. But when a new case - an elderly alcoholic in a flat directly opposite his own - hits May harder than usual, he journeys outside London to track down the man's long abandoned [wife and] daughter. Against the odds, the two lonely souls are drawn to each other - and May's outlook starts to open to life's possibilities. 93 min., colour [from the DVD jacket]
