'sounds just like the blues covers they were doing in the 60's...unfortunately over the 50 years they've been writing music, they haven't progressed past the woman-hating lyrics, despite some beautiful songs like Angie, and this album starts out with "buy me a gun and shoot at you"

Great stuff. Roots music from a fantastic band. Love it to death!

Thankfully, producers didn't get in the way and step on anyone's toes or otherwise bend the music to suit their own preconceived notions of what constitutes the blues. The Brits loved American blues, at least postwar Brits did, and it shows on this album by the stones. Often derided in the sixties as plastic soul-by the very rnb entertainers they so admired and wanted to emulate- blue and lonesome will stand as a loving tribute to the blues by a band made fabulously wealthy and famous as opposed to the impoverished and forgotten lot of American blues men and women.

A fantastic album by a legendary rock band. Classic blues and a must for any fan of the blues to listen to. I've been waiting a very long time to hear this album and I was not disappointed at all.

Finally, the record the've talked about making for decades...you can quibble about why it took so long, you can quibble about the mix, but that's all it is - quibbling about something basically right. Only thing better would be a deluxe version with all the originals.

A must have for any blues fan on this planet......the Stones did pull it off exceptionally True and Awesome...check out the Chuck Leavell Piano on track 4...Charlie has the Charle feel through out the album..Mick sings blues like no tomorrow..Ronnie and Keef in the blues intrance ich will defenitely transmitted to each serious listener if you close ur eyes and swing through out...(defenitely not recommended to play while driving).....Darryl is awesome with that Wyman wobbly bass but Bluesy in his own way...Clapton shines on the last track.....i guarantee you will never be the same after one listen...i been listening to this about 60 times already....since i purchased this...i would give 15 stars!!!--- Reju Pachikara Tharakan, Dublin.

One of their best albums in YEARS. The Stones go back to their blues roots with this album of blues covers.
