Texas rancher Caleb Starr is simply protecting his chickens when he guns down what he believes to be a hawk diving to attack them. Unfortunately the bird was a newly released bald eagle being followed by a helicopter carrying a psychopath by the name of Marsh Wheelan who is working for the environmental organization, RUN FREE. Wheelan films the eagle killing then makes another copy for his own twisted agenda. When a photo of Starr holding up a bloodied eagle appears on the cover of a sleazy national tabloid, it ignites a firestorm of publicity. To further his goals, Wheelan, who is a computer genius, hacks false information about the rancher into the databases of myriad federal organizations such as the FBI, FWS, ATF, and the EPA. Multiple federal and state agencies and environmental groups converge on the sleepy west Texas town of Lone Wolf, where they square off against the hapless rancher and each other. The widowed rancher, his family and friends, are all swept into a maelstrom of both legal and very real danger. Can the lone FBI agent who believes Caleb catch the psychopath behind it all and clear the rancher's name before he is crucified on the cross of a biased media . . . Born in the shadow of Pike's Peak, Ken Hodgson is an active member of Mystery Writers of America and International Thriller Writers. He lives on a small ranch in Northern New Mexico with his wife and prime editor, Rita, along with two totally spoiled cats, Sasha and Ulysses.
