The most dangerous evil has infinite subtlety and patience. Beware: It is rising. At the end of the school year, Kendra and her brother, Seth, find themselves racing back to Fablehaven, a refuge for mythical and magical creatures. Grandpa Sorenson, the caretaker, invites three specialists-a potion master, a magical relics collector, and a mystical creature trapper-to help protect the property from the Society of the Evening Star, an ancient organization determined to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artifact of great power. Time is running out. The Evening Star is storming the gates. If the artifact falls into the wrong hands, it could mean the downfall of other preserves and possibly the world. Will Kendra learn to use her fairy gifts in time? Will Seth stay out of trouble? Can they overcome paralyzing fear? Find out in book two of this bestselling children's fantasy series.

The Rise of the Evening Star is the second book in the Fablehaven series. Frankly, it is one of my favourite books in the Fablehaven series. In the last book, we left off with Kendra and Seth, two ordinary kids who go on an extraordinary adventure. They’ve been through a lot during their summer with their grandparents, and they can’t wait to go back. This book is full of plot twists, betrayal, and fantasy. The tests the truth of who you can and cannot trust. Furthermore, it stretches your imagination to the depths that you did not think were possible. As the reader will soon come to know, the title of the book has its own meaning. Kendra and Seth, while at Fablehaven for the second time, learn of a mysterious organization called The Society of the Evening Star. They are set out to corrupt magical preserves and use them for their own intentions, which are nonetheless evil. As the reader has come to know, Fablehaven is a magical preserve. In the second book of the series, the two kids must learn that not everyone is trustworthy, and those who are at the moment, may not be in a few pages. Rating: 5/5

Fablehaven, the rise of the evening star was a noteworthy book. You got to go on a great adventure with the characters. Additionally, the new characters are quite interesting and have their own personalities. The book was really good.

Re-reading a series I LOVED when I was 8 and 9 years old. Now at 14 I'm still entertained by it and just started Book 3 last night.

hats off to you, Brandon Mull!

-One critique, though its more to the illustrator than Brandon.

Kendra's supposed to be 14 in this book, but the illustration from her meeting with the sphinx makes her look like she's 8
