This is an unusual subject for Kurt Vonnegut. As usual Nick Nolte gives an exceptional performance. The rest of the cast holds up strongly as well.
Enjoyed this more than I expected I would. Make certain that you watch the specail features. " Be careful what you pretend to be."

Flashbacks are used as constant interjections of the back story to this Kurt Vonnegut film .
While living in Germany.American playwrite,
Howard W.. Campbell Jr., is recruited as an American spy. His involvement with the Nazi's and the war crimes committed come back to haunt him after the war. Vonnegut has a walk through cameo that emphasizes the statement made by Howard as he stands motionless on the sidewalk : " I froze because I realized that I had no reason to move in any direction."
