Add a CommentIf the #metoo movement had an origin story, it would certainly be this sassy take on the Scheherazade tale. Witty writing matched with inviting graphics illustrate that sisterhood is indeed powerful!
Beautiful and tightly-packed stories about love, friendship, betrayal, and sisters. Romantic, whimsical and imaginative, this graphic novel is delightful read.
A graphic novel about secret societies of storytellers, clever women and cruel husbands. Lovers Cherry and Hero get a chance at being together when Cherry's husband leaves, after making a bet that his friend can't seduce his wife. To keep him at bay, Hero (Cherry's maid) spins stories that chance the world. Sharp and funny and very readable!
I'd read The Encyclopedia of Early Earth and quite enjoyed its whimsical mythology, but I wasn't expecting to get the same again PLUS such feminist fierceness and intense love. So much depth that I wouldn't be surprised to see it popping up on college syllabi within the next few years. I wish I had literature skills enough to write a proper glowing review, but all I can say is READ IT. :)
Absolutely gorgeous & touching story
