There is no other way to say this: I LOVED this book. I want to hold its author as one of my closest friends. I want to return soon to NYC. I want to be a better, more engaged person with the ones I love, always making certain that they know their worth and feel my love. I want to be a better observer, have more random encounters, and here you go: This book makes me want to be a better person.

One of the best - if not THE best - books I've read in a very long while.

(Don't listen on audio. The book has many photographic images which set the tone and would be hugely missed in any format but print).

Simply beautiful! How lucky for Mr. Hayes and Dr. Sacks that their paths crossed. And, how lucky for us that Hayes is such a fine writer and photographer. He makes me want to pack up and move to New York. Highly recommended.
