"Three years ago an event destroyed the small city of Poughkeepsie, forever changing reality within its borders. Uncanny manifestations and lethal dangers now await anyone who enters the Spill Zone. The Spill claimed Addison's parents and scarred her little sister, Lexa, who hasn't spoken since. Addison provides for her sister by photographing the Zone's twisted attractions on illicit midnight rides. Art collectors pay top dollar for these bizarre images, but getting close enough for the perfect shot can mean death--or worse. When an eccentric collector makes a million-dollar offer, Addison breaks her own hard-learned rules of survival and ventures farther than she has ever dared. Within the Spill Zone, Hell awaits--and it seems to be calling Addison's name" --

Great character development with Addison, a teenage girl with too much responsibility and plenty of courage and attitude. I like the story line and can see where it's going, looking forward to the next book to see what happens next and to discover what happened to everyone in the town when "The Spill" happened.

It was weird but I liked it so much. Defiantly can not wait till the next one.

The spill zone was once her home town. Now its an off limits zone because of "the accident". Odd things happen in the spill zone, but what really caused them? An interesting blend of sci-fi and light horror. This one is mostly world building and character creation, but still has plenty of intrigue.

A wonderfully atmospheric tale about a small town abandoned and quarantined after a strange accident. Addie, who's parents died in the accident, sneaks in, taking pictures to sell to collectors. Author Westerfield keeps his secrets close, and I'm happily hooked.

Yep, I'm hooked and ready for more. This story has just scratched the surface of the mystery behind events, and provides an excellent introduction to them driven by the engaging characters and their concerns. Excellent storytelling.

I found the artwork sufficient but I wasn't crazy about the style, plus there were some odd coloring choices and too many details left vague and undefined.

Very interesting book! The plot really leads you on, although some of the questions in the book were left unfinished due to there being a 2nd book to the series.
I would definitely recommend reading this book!

This book was ok but it wasn't my favorite book. It was a very strange book. The drawings were good and it was an interesting plot but it was confusing and felt unfinished.

No one knows what happened in the Spill Zone. Is it extraterrestrial? Chemical? Whatever it is, it transformed the town of Poughkeepsie into a no-man's land. One girl goes back over and over, playing with fire. What power animates the rag doll who dances on her own? What does the silent girl know? I can't wait to find out more in the second volume.
