this book reminding me of the fun of running like your life depends on it. All the pressure put upon her to stay strong, all the people that depend on her to keep it together. It's an inspiring book that i really enjoyed.

Jason Reynolds captures authentic middle school voices in this series. Big praise for this amazing quartet!

I had heard so many great things about "Ghost" by Jason Reynolds and I had never realized that it was part of a series. And with that cliffhanger - I just had to get my hands on the book as soon as possible.

Another great, heartfelt book from one of the most influential writers of our time. This is part of his "Track" series, and they're all excellent. It's not just about running, it's also about family, and perseverance, and friendship.

I really loved Ghost. I thought it was the best book Reynolds had written. Then I read Patina, and it's even better. Great characters, great plot, great way to incorporate poetry into the story. I wonder if Sunny will be even better?

Another strong entry in this excellent series from an excellent author.

Is author Jason Reynolds a middle school girl in disguise? Did he secretly attend an all-girls academy and record their conversations? The interactions between Patina, her classmates and the girls on her relay team will have readers asking the same questions. Like Ghost, the first book in the Track series, Patina is a fast-paced, well-developed story with emotional depth and unique and believable characters. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and run to the library for the next book in the series, Sunny.

Patina is the second book in Jason Reynold's Track series featuring a group of fast and fiery kids who discover their individual strengths and the power of teamwork. Book two features Patty who is out to prove her ma is right when she says, "Patty ain't no junk."

Patina (Patty) is trying to get used to a new school, which is much fancier than her old one, a new elite track team and the trials and tribulations of 7th grade. Her and her little sister now live with their Aunt and Uncle, because their Mom who has diabetes and has lost both legs can no longer take care of them and Dad died a few years ago. Throughout the book Patty learns to adjust to everything and learns quite a few valuable lessons along the way.
