Royal RococoStreaming Video - 2014
A study of the Rococo style, characterized by small curves, counter-curves, prettiness and gaiety, as exemplified in Schloss Brühl, an old water castle remodeled in 1725 by the prince-archbishop of Cologne, Germany. Taste at this time was dominated by the French, so an architect and a landscape gardener from France were brought in to 'Frenchify' the Schloss; the interior was adorned with shell-work and scroll-work, the walls and ceilings covered with paintings. Every detail inside and out was brought into exquisite harmony. The film is accompanied by the music of Handel and others. There is no narration.
