Jackie Chan 'did' do a good job of acting, but, this movie has the same old actors, scenes, plot, beginning and end as 95% of movies. Hollywood carries around a dark bag filled with different words and pulls out one printed word at a time to cram together something that looks like it might make money. They pull out a whore, a disenchanted wife, a philandering husband, a bad guy, a good guy, some bombs, dynamite, guns, noise makers, loud slaps, loud fist to the face noises, squeals of agony, and throws it all up in the air like confetti then puts it on video for people to stare at for two hours because they don't have a life. That's what this movie is about.

Jackie Chan is a man who should not be f*cked with and never to be underestimated.
The Foreigner is a well crafted suspense/action movie with a great cast. What lifts this film above others of its genre is both the slow burn of Jackie Chan's character and his talent as an actor & martial artist. It is a credit to the mature actor that his gives an excelent emotional and physical performance.

Jackie Chan plays this dramatic role to the hilt, very good. The film is great production, good cast, and filled with inner drama that has a zig-zag conflict all the way to the finale. Ha,Ha. English is the language, but with a Northern Ireland accent. Had to rewind in a couple spots because I'm not used to the accent. Does not detract from the story tho'. Enjoyed it very much.

Directed by Martin Campbell in 2017 based on the 1992 novel "The Chinaman" by Stephen Leather, this British-Chinese action-packed thriller depicts the revenge of a Chinese ex-soldier played by Jackie Chan who lost his daughter in the terrorist bombing.
In his early sixties, Jackie Chan shows great performance as the most dramatic role he has ever tackled with coiled intensity and raw emotional power.
Good to see Chan as a revenge fighter instead of his happy-go-lucky persona.

A serious side to Jackie Chan. A peaceful man taking justice into his own hands. Plenty of clever self defence - impressive considering his age.

I was very impressed with the acting, writing, direction and depth of characters in this scaled down action film.
Impressive acting from Jackie Chan (Police Story:1985; Vancouver filmed, The Rumble in the Bronx:1995; Rush Hour:1998: Shanghai Knights: 2003, and Kung Fu Panda: 2008) and Pierce Brosman (The World is Not Enough: 1999; Die Another Day: 2002; Mamma Mia: 2008 ; IT: 2016) for keeping an authentic Irish accent. Good compelling storyline of former Special Ops and IRA leader clash, when terrorists of a younger generation make political statements that crosses emotional and moral boundaries.
I have not seen all of the Jackie Chan films (English or Chinese), but this is the most impressive serious film that I have seen so far. The 2009 Shinjuku Incident comes into mind as another impressive serious film.
There is no special features on this DVD.

A nice surprise. I thought I would just be skipping through chapters, because people just beating the snot out of each other doesn't interest me, but the intriguing story line held more depth and my attention enough to watch the entire film.

Quan Ngoc Minh: Politicians and terrorists, they are just 2 ends of the same snake.

Quan Ngoc Minh: What's the difference?

Liam Hennessy: There is a difference.

Liam Hennessy: One end bites and the other doesn't.

IRA politics and terrorism are different ends of the same snake. Whichever end you grab, you still grab a snake.
-It makes a great deal of difference which end you grab, because one end will bite.
How long have you been in this country, Mr. Quan?
-Since 1984. I'm a British citizen.
You were born in Guangxi, China.
-Yes. I'm Chinese Nung. I work in Saigon after the war. We escaped to Singapore. Then we immigrate here.

There's a lot of support for their actions amongst the younger ranks.
-Hotheads. Hotheads who don't remember, or know any better.
You were once one of those hotheads, Liam.
-Aye. Long ago, when it was the only way. And what did it give us? More graves than I care to remember.

She said he was a Chinaman?
-Affirmative. About 60 years old.
One ol' man running circles around the lot of us. Why is it so hard?
I remember a time when you would've dealt with this, properly, and other things, too. But those days are gone.
I've half the city looking for him. When he surfaces in Belfast, we'll find him.
Christ Almighty, are you dumb and blind? An old man making fools out of the lot of you, and he's still running around out there, for God's sake. You are four men. Four.
