The first volume seemed really rushed; volume two is a little less hectic, but it still skips and speeds through in certain places. While I recognize that the manga actually adapts the Super anime (instead of the anime adapting the manga, as usually happens), I have to say that there are certain scenes (namely the fight between Goku and Hit) that are done way better by the anime. This volume totally lacks the tension that was present in the show.

This seems to be a persisting problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that, having watched the anime, I know what's 'supposed' to happen. Rather, there are several panels worth of imagery and dialogue that just totally aren't here. The entire thing feels like it's rushing to 'catch up' with the show, which as of this point has been finished since early last year. The manga suffers from this rushing. What could be spectacular is instead just entertaining.
