My personal perspective (AKA bias, if you will) derives from Dean Ornish, Caldwell Esselstyn, and T. Colin Campbell. These individuals have years of research and field trials to support their dietary recommendations. In the case of Dean Ornish, his research institute continues to fine tune their recommendations based on their ongoing research program.

Despite his heart attack, Bob Harper's diet recommendations do not match the findings of the above researchers. Before the 1980's and Nathan Pritikin, dietary recommendations for weight loss were simply a reduced calorie diet. This book advocates the same and doesn't appear to have anything new. I would put forward the idea that any diet that is advocated without active, ongoing research is a gamble, at best.

If you want to go deep on healthy eating, Dean Ornish offers an integrated health program backed by 30 years of research that continues even now. His books are also available in this library.

That being said, I respect that each person has a path. I wish the best to all on theirs. :-)
