If banning guns doesn't get the crime rate down, how about legislating mandatory gun ownership for everyone over the age of 9? That is the crazy premise to this satirical, hysterically funny book that tweaks the noses of just about everyone in Washington DC. (As the CPD [Chicago Police Department] Riot Squad marshalls to face hundreds of hard core gun rights organizations gathering in Grant Park, author Israel observes "they were outmanned, outgunned, and outacronymed"). Hee.
This book is tremendous fun while still holding up a fairly unflattering mirror to our behavior as Americans in our pursuit of happiness, at the expense of anyone who doesn't agree with us.

Big Guns is a spoof of modern politics; It displays all the problems of today's politicians and expands on them. It starts with a simple campaign to ban guns in a small town but rapidly escalates into a battle for political dominance with xenophobic conspiracy theorists and fossilized government officials, everyone doing anything they can to come out on top.
