I normally enjoy his books, but this one was a disappointment. The concept/plot whatever you want to call it has been used for movies long before this..not original.

Good mystery with a large cast of characters (required paying attention). Story was hard to put down and flowed nicely. Both Stride and Maggie are equally represented in this thriller.

It's been several years since I read a Freeman novel & I always thought them average to just above average.
He develops interesting characters, even secondary roles are fleshed out nicely.
But his plots are just too much.
I've never, ever read 350 pages of a 360 page novel & just closed it up.
Until now.

Okay, I'll be that guy. Ft Myers is not a steaming tropical paradise in January. Temps are generally in the low seventies with Gulf temps in the mid sixties. Also, as opposed to the author's repeated references, there is little to no humidity at that time of year. I'm aware nobody cares about this but I feel better already.
