15+ 3rd book in a series. About a young girl who must defend her peoples existence from enemies who want them destroyed because of their magic abilities. Teen love story mixed with adventure and family struggles.

can’t express my excitement for this book. Avenged gave me a completely new outlook on the Ruined series, even though it was slow paced, and created a bridge into this novel. Allied brought everything together, in an action packed and developing story. If I’m being honest, if I were to be reading solely for Em and Cas, I would have stopped following this series a long time ago. This is a rather meager fantasy book, if I’m being honest, but Aren and Iria brought a light to it. I can’t explain my love for Aren, his complexity and kindness combined with his strength were enough for me to declare him a true king of Ruina. I was literally flipping through the chapters only for his chapters, and his travel to save Iria from the Olso prison. I wouldn’t say this is the best series I’ve ever read, but Aren is one of the best characters. Rating 3/5 @jewelreader of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
