Once i picked up this book, i couldn’t put it down! It was slow in some places but over all a very good read. I would definitely recommend this book!
I am completely biased when it comes to anything written by Lauren Oliver. I have been anxiously waiting for this book to be published, and as always Lauren Oliver did not disappoint. I just love her writing style in general and her knack for making memorable characters and writing unique inner monologues for multiple characters. This book is written from two perspectives, Mia and Brynn, mixed in with flashback from both characters as they look back and try to rehash the cold case of their best friend Summer's murder 5 years ago. I don't want to give too much away but the ending of this book is just so twisted! This killer never even crossed my radar! If you loved the book series / TV series "Pretty Little Liars," then this book is 100% for you. I also completely recommend anything else written by Lauren Oliver. Although there were some dull moments throughout the novel in my opinion because it wasn't just about finding the killer but also about Mia and Brynn's attempts to live a normal life after they have been accused of murder while living in an intensely small town. This aspect of the story just made for a better plot line, but I just wanted to stay on topic and find out who the killer was! I'm a very impatient reader when it comes to murder mysteries, I just needed answers NOW!
I have read a trilogy and a novel by this exact author. Not exactly surprised how confusing yet intriguing this very novel was. It has been a while since I have not been able to set a book down from suspense. You question the main characters and everyone they interrogate or approach. The ending may very well baffle you or you may become obsessed into finding out the killer before the end like me! Anyways, I recommend this book for anyone willing to have their minds to swirl into insanity.
The line between reality and fantasy blurs for three friends who imagine themselves into a twisted world called The Way to Lovelorn.
This book is sinister and delicious, a true penumbra between light and dark. Innocent golden-haired girl, brutally murdered by her best friends? Or twisted queen slaughtered by something out of her control? The malevolent obsession, fringing on borderline mental insanity, perfectly captures the element of horror, while the friendship and suspense-thriller like writing appeal to those of us who love a good murder mystery. The ending, too- masterfully written, sends shivers frissoning down your spine. Modern and feisty, sinister and ancient, this book is definitely for you. And you. And you.
If you like true crime, books about books, high school drama and excellent writing, this is for you!
I started this book and it got my attention immediately with the story of Summer's death. The end of the book was also up to Lauren Oliver standards. The in between parts were rambling and too much filler. It did not live up to the "Before I Fall" bar for me. Disappointed!
