Well... Made it through 15 minutes. Too crazy. Some of the reviews say Elisabeth Moss does a bang-up job. To me though it was just self-indulgent, overacting garbage. You don't even want to stick around to even see if it has any semblance of redeeming quality. I'm just not that masochistic.

is there a negative 50,000 stars for this POS? TOTAL GARBAGE. I couldn't sit through it and I tried. I tried returning to the movie after a few days, but this movie is so bad you truly feel your life wasting away watching it. I tried watching it while reading and ignoring the movie. I couldn't do it. There is NO PLOT, NO STORY, just boring scenes that don't connect together of bad dialogue. I don't understand how this movie was made. Who financed a movie with no script? For a REAL Rock N Roll /Punk rock (sorta punk rock) movie borrow "THE RUNAWAYS" the true story of Joan Jett and The Runaways. Now that is a superb movie. So good I've seen it like 5 times. This trash with the overexposed Elizabeth Moss who is in everything it seems you won't get through. WORST POS EVER.

Terrible movie about a deranged rock star as she sinks lower and lower. The movie is boring with no redeeming qualities except that I must say Moss does a fine job of playing the lead. She really was good. Too bad the movie stinks.

I don't think the Zelda E. Zekiel character added anything to this film.

It’s not an easy movie to watch (frenetic, loud, abrasive, raw, and very tense) but interesting nevertheless. If you are partial to fast-moving, plot-driven, wide-appeal movies (eg, The Runaways [2010]), this movie might not be for you.

It’s a pseudo-documentary of a Courtney Love-ish character. Elizabeth Moss plays a tragic monster that crashes her band and then sobers up years later. If you are familiar with Hole, Sleater-Kinney, Joan Jett, and the Runaways, you might imagine that these scenes played out in their lives in some way.

It’s well-acted all around. The shots are long, and it’s amazing that the actors can do all that in one shot, especially Elizabeth Moss. Eric Stolz (1990s guy) is a pleasant surprise.
The original music is great.

The Blair Witch hand-held camera work only lasts for a few seconds at the beginning of each of the four major scenes.

Can you spot the Downton Abbey actor?

I admit to having to fast-forward through some of the extensive rants.

MINOR SPOILER: Nothing bad happens to the baby.

Moss channels Courtney Love to help this movie avoid playing like (ugh) Rikki and the Rockets. She'll even sing a Charles Manson ditty (yes..THAT Charles Manson) to get a little street cred. Moss and the gang are no Hedwig and the Angry Inch but you won't ask for your money back after viewing this film.

There is no such thing as a 'punk rock superstar.' The only thing 'punk' in this dreary film are the actor's clothes. This is not worth your time or the effort, because it's all so pretentious and REALLY boring. Is it me or is Elizabeth Moss in everything these days? Did I mention how really dull, uninspiring, flat, insipid and pedestrian this film is? Next!

pointless

It's tough making a movie with a protagonist who is, for lack of a better description, a toxic and manipulative psychic vampire, but Her Smell pulls it off. Elisabeth Moss delivers a career defining performance as Becky Something, a rock and roll icon who has warped into a destructive maniac in her band's latter days. Director Alex Ross Perry portrays the film in five scenes from the decline of Becky's career and crafts a remarkably deft character arc. This one isn't always easy to watch, but it's always engrossing.
