"After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle's talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined. Even as others were drawn into their mother's dark and perverse web, the sisters found the strength and courage to escape an escalating nightmare that culminated in multiple murders."--Provided by publisher.

As others have stated, this is a well written book but very difficult to read of abuse. Almost stopped reading it at least three times and do not know that I would recommend it to anyone for that reason.

While this is well written and researched, I could not finish due to the graphic descriptions of the brutal psychological and physical abuse. As a retired Operating Room RN, I can tolerate a lot, but this was too much even for me.

Wow! I could not put this book down! Just a warning that it's very bloody and gory and lots of scenes of abuse. It's just incredible what these poor little sisters went through. You won't be able to tear your eyes away.

This is a story about the mother from hell. This woman is the psychopath of all psychopaths. What is truly frightening to me is the number of people who look the other way when there are obvious signs of abuse in a family. How can people who see that something is not right with a child just do nothing about it? This book was a horrendous example of childhood abuse and made my hair stand on end. There should be a death penalty in effect for people like the adults in this book. They do not deserve to live on this earth with normal human beings.
