This posthumous volume includes writings from one of Fromm's most fertile periods-the 1960s. These writings concentrate on humanistic science, socialism, religion, and psychoanalysis. They are from lectures, works written for specific occasions, and manuscripts intended as books. Of particular interest is an extended essay on two very different thinkers: Meister Eckhart and Karl Marx.

This book compiles various manuscripts from Erich Fromm throughout the 60's until his death in the late 70's. Fromm makes some of the most compelling argument for a radical change in our way of thinking and being. From a soul-less and commodifying capitalistic way of life, to a humanistically-driven philosophy that recognizes everyone's individuality and participation in social life. For a follow-up reading, I strongly recommend Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of Oppression which takes these ideas further and develops into a guide to revisit our praxis.
