Loved it, loved it. Laughed, cried, can't imagine events I'd put up with (great dane in tiny house.) This left me with a longing for having know such loving companions. Cannot imagine any dog lover not liking this read.

Loved this book, and just about everything by Gary Paulsen. I also love dogs, and this book about them is mesmerizing. My fave story here is the mysterious black lab who shows up one day to help Gary duck hunt...

On the Alaskan frontier, stupid can get you killed, fast. Fortunately for Gary Paulsen, who's lived a life of adventure, one of those stupid mistakes was in the company of Cookie, his sled dog. One split second, their eyes locked as Paulsen went down, and before he could die, she saved his life.

If you've read HATCHET or any of the other Brian books, you know that Paulsen writes intensely exciting adventure stories. In this book, the hero of each adventure is a dog--and it's true.

And if you're wondering what Paulsen's mistake was, and how Cookie the sled dog saved him: Read the book!
