Nice original twist of FTL spaceship in futuristic civilization fighting in total war get hurled & crashed in magic dominated land or disastrous first contact patriarchal pre-industrial civilization given crew mainly females setting up the novel.
Caring battered women & children from other land while trying to house & feed in marginal land up in the mountain ramped up the problems.
Author emphasized logistics, economics, money & social issues.
