Even though his classmates from first grade on have considered him strange and a loser, Daniel Zinkoff's optimism and exuberance and the support of his loving family do not allow him to feel that way about himself.

While designed for young readers, the title caught my attention and I wanted to read a Jerry Spinelli book. I am afraid that I did not find the book very interesting. However, it did depict how some children just do not fit into what might be considered as a common mold and how they become isolated by their peers. In spite of that isolation young Zinkoff's optimism prevailed.

I think Loser is a grate, interesting and realistic book. These book is about a special child. His different than the others, in his point of view. For example when his team lose on a tournament instead of lie down to the floor, and scream , and cry, and kick stuff like all the other players of the losing team. He had a smile in his face. As he kept growing, things start to change, and both the school and the social part of his life, they start to get difficult.

"The bullies in his class call him "loser," but quirky Donald Zinkoff hardly notices. Although he's clumsy, he laughs too much, his schoolwork is sloppy, and (due to a stomach problem) he throws up a lot, Donald is good-natured and enthusiastic about pretty much everything. Does that make him a pathetic weirdo, or an unsung hero? It's up to you to decide in this fast-moving, feel-good story. If you relate to characters who, like Donald, are more caring than they are popular or talented, you may also enjoy Absolutely Almost by Lisa Graff." http://www.libraryaware.com/996/NewsletterIssues/ViewIssue/67314d73-b332-4408-8732-ec53459f86e3?postId=63bb335c-0042-4c5a-b583-94cdcc097bd0
