When Soren the Barn Owl is taken from his tranquil kingdom of Tyto, he and his friend Gylfie escape and, along the way, meet two other owls, Twilight and Digger. The four owls band together to seek the truth and protect the owl world from unimaginable danger.
You meet Soren and Gylfie as they are captured by the evil owls of St. Aggies, and try to survive.
Two owls are captured by other owls from a horrible place called St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls. At "St. Aggie's," as this place is called for short, they moon-blink owls and don't allow questions. Will the two owls be able to escape? And if so, how will they manage without being caught?
Frightening or Intense Scenes: Although this book doesn't have much that would be unsuitable for a younger audience, (other than the ending section) later books feature some blood and death scenes. Seems a little bit heavy for this light beginning. Most of the books are fine however, and if you can live through one or two violent scenes then this book/series is for you.
Comment
Add a CommentThis series is among the best modern writings in the world. You won't be able to put the book down! I finished this book the day after a started it, and proceeded to burn up the pages on the next. I barely took a break while reading any of these books, and I bet YOU won't either!

With some help Soren escapes to find the Guardians.
It is a wonderful book. Although some parts of the book is sad, it is the BEST BOOK EVER!!!!
I can't wait till my next book on hold comes out! I promise you that all the Gardiens of Ga'Hoole books are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
This is a fantastic book! ļļ I cannot wait to receive my hold for the next book in this series, it is taking forever. The sad events in this story broke my heart, but that's what makes it interesting. Anyway, I love the series so far! It's a great start to a series because the first book is so engaging.
My favorite character is Gylfie, very cute, tiny, but smart. Just the perfect combination!
I love this series so much, I was so sad when I finished it because I couldn't read more about Soren and his adventures. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Erin Hunter, Lisa Fiedler, or any of Kathryn Lasky's other books. Once again, I love this series!
