A very good book that I breezed through. If you like WWII, historical, military or naval fiction then this book you'll love. Certainly it isn't high art and the secondary characters aren't really flushed out but that's the only negatives. Really neat portrayal of what it was like in Germany when the tide of WWII changed. The book also did a good job of providing diverse settings (it doesn't all take place on a U-boat) and includes drama on a battleship, in Berlin, on other boats and even in a POW camp in the states. Lots of action and the central character is very sympathetic.
