Another Blier "shocker" borrowing a bit from Genet, and aimed squarely at the bourgeoisie. This time it's not only a misogynist but a misanthropic vision--the gist of it is that love and sexual congress of any stripe (between men and women, men and men, even women and women) is downright degrading. Fortunately, however, Menage is laced with some real laughs, although nasty ones. One admires the nerve (should I say, the Gaul?) of Depardieu who not only gives it his all, but SHOWS us his all (which at this stage was not particularly pretty). At any rate, it seems a good time was had by all, and this actually ends up being kinda fun. Try it.

Bertrand Blier (director) trying to explore a bisexual theif's sexuality in a comedy is Menage, in short. There is hardly in predictability in the light hearted drama. All the three main actors have done a great job too.

One of the strangest movies I've ever seen. The only saving grace was young Gerard Depardieu's talented performance as the energetic and comical queer thief who adds some spice to an otherwise insipid couple's life.

Gérard Depardieu, Miou-Miou and Michel Blanc give us an incredible romp into grand theft. Gérard has a nose for money and gold, but he isn't sure whether he likes women or men. In true French farce fashion, you won't know what to expect, so don't be searching for a grande plot or profound denouement.
