Pseudo-historical romance. Well worth seeing. Starts as weak comedy, but rises to exciting, serious finale. Large production, impressive sets. The incomparable John Barrymore, surprisingly fit and convincing at 45 in loincloth scenes, was 26 years older than Marceline Day. Conrad Veidt is excellent as Louis XI.
