Four siblings, now adults, return home to North Carolina, to their terminally ill mother's house for what they think are her final few days. When she hangs on, they find themselves stuck under the same roof for two difficult weeks. But as the children come to terms with their grief, they discover laughter in the midst of sorrow, love in the face of anger, and an opportunity to gain new perspectives on their own lives.
Sally Field playing a woman dying of cancer in the company of her four children and their stepfather. Not a movie with any plot, certainly not anything to watch for pleasure, enjoyment, or excitement. It twangs the heart strings and Sally Field does her as-always fantastic job being an actress. If you want to watch someone elses mom die with as much detail as can be squeezed into a feature movie this is the one for you. It's a tear-jerker.
