An incredible picture for its time of 1961. ‘No one under 16 years’ was the rating, because it dealt with then-illegal acts of homosexuality. Nothing was shown or even detailed, people merely used the word!

One or two of the performances are unfortunate, but on the whole it’s a fantastic script with entirely realistic dialogue and action. What’s at stake is clearly stated by the characters with none of the ‘unspoken mystery’ that confuses us now. The result is a tale which is just as fresh today as one would want.

Highly recommended.
